I’ve had sciatica since August of ’06. The doctor did an MRI and found I have a herniated disc in my lumbar spine with stenosis. The pain wakes me up at night and is horrendous in the mornings. It hurts all the way from my back to my foot (on the left side). The neurosurgeon recommended surgery, but I am scared-plus I have other health issues. My husband also has disc problems and recently had his 1st nerveblock. It helped at first but now it seems to have worn off. I’m sick of living on painkillers and constant pain.

I went in for an MRI this morning for a possible Herniated Disc. I’ve also researched possible treatments whether be surgical or non surgical. If anyone has some suggestions, advise or even a couple words maybe youve had it before maybe your a doctor please tell me how i can go about making a treatment decision
He is in pain, he has trouble sitting, lying, walking, everything.
So far we’ve done hot and cold treatments, taken drugs, seen the doctor.
We are looking into this new decompression treatment, chiropractors and accupunturists.
Surgery is the last option he wants to take. Personally, it would be my first.
How can I physically help him, lift his spirits, furthur this process towards healing?
My friend has a pinched nerve, or so that’s the doctor’s theory. He has pain in his left butt cheek and it cramps up often, usually being worse in the morning. Pain medicine doesn’t seem to make a difference. He’s usually a pain when it comes to going to the doctor and is putting off his MRI that he needs. Any suggestions for at home remedies or something to help with the pain? Thanks!

My 3 year old dachshund was diagnosed with a herniated disc in his neck last Monday. He was put on Prednisone for the pain and I was told no running, jumping, or climbing stairs for 3 weeks. He is currently being weaned off of the Prednisone. Today, he is experiencing pain while walking. Is there anything that I can do for him? Is it normal for him to be experiencing pain before he gets better? What else can I expect during the next few weeks?
