Is it possible for a MRI to not pick up a neck injury? I have a constant stiff neck and sharp radiating pain.?

I have a constant ache and stiffness and sharp radiating pain when I rotate my neck a certain way. Im in the army and I received both an X-Ray and a MRI. Both yielded normal results. Is it possible that they could have missed something? They are trying to release me from Active Duty and keep telling me that I have no injury because of the One MRI I took.
