How can I alleviate upper back pain that runs across my shoulders and up into my neck?

I am sure it is tension related, and it’s been going on for days. I have tons of homework to complete before Monday – I don’t really have a comfortable place to sit and I don’t like sitting in my bed to do homework.

Is it possible to alleviate the shoulder/back pain I’m having – even if it’s only for a couple of hours it would be so wonderful. I have some naproxen, but that stuff doesn’t really do much for me.

I went to a physical therapist and he taught me these exercises. So now I am going to save you guys money and time from visiting one yourself! Now you can learn them for free in the comfort of your home :] these exercises have been working for me, so I hope you find them helpful too! YOU WILL NEED: -weights (optional. *Note: 1 bottled water ~ 1 lb.) -exercise ball -3-5 in foam roller EXERCISES: -Lie down vertically on roller, hands bent; stretch for 60 sec. (twice a day) -in same position stick chest out and dig elbows into ground. 2 sets of 10 reps (twice a day) -lie down on roller with it placed in the middle of your back and on the ground vertically

This stretch can work out the kinks—just don’t hold back. To complete this How-To you will need: Comfortable clothes A large towel 2 large rubber bands A floor A 3- to 5-inch-diameter foam roller Step 1: Roll towel Fold the large towel in half lengthwise and roll it very tightly, creating a cylinder that’s 3-5 inches in diameter. Tip: Replace the rolled towel with a foam roller, a common and inexpensive physical therapy tool. Step 2: Place rubber band Place one rubber band around the rolled towel near each end to keep it tightly rolled. Step 3: Place on floor Place the rolled towel on the floor where you will lie so that it will be perpendicular to your body. Step 4: Lie on floor Lie on your back on the floor so the rolled towel is at the base of your shoulder blades. Your knees should be bent and your feet flat on the floor. What would cause pain on inner upper thigh similar to sciatica?

53 yr f. has pain on inner left thigh near groin. Feels similar to sciatica. but is not. Had hernia surgery, but hernia was not cause of pain, since after 6 wks pain is worse. Frustrated and my GP is not much help. Not sure who to see next. Please help.
